(BEVAN), Ann 2 1 3
We think this Thomas is the one whose wife, Ann, declared that she, as the widow of John Sisom, had known that her husband saw the deed contract where William Coate deeded land in 1746. The land was finally paid for in 1767 and deeded to the person who'd been paying for it as agreed over a period of years, John Aldermost. John Sisom was deceased by the 1767 date. William would have been Thomas' brother. Thomas was listed "late of Philadelphia" and was not deceased as Ann is not listed as a widow. Here is the best transcription we currently have on this particular ending to the deed. "City and county of Philadelphia personally appeared Ann Coats wife of Thomas Coats of the said city gentleman, late, ann Sisom widow of John Sisom late of the said city Merchant deceased one of the subscribing witnesses to the within written indenture and the written indenture with the names Peter Aldermost subcribed his seal being shown unto ... being of the same hand be affirmed according to law being one of the .... affirm and say that she verfiy the (sign) the said Peter Aldermost his hand as his Act & Deed deliver ..... her belief is she was the wife of the said John Sisom......." Ann married John SISOM on Mar 27, 1727 in , , NJ, USA.1 (John SISOM died in 1746-1767.) Ann next married Thomas COATS Sr., son of Unknown COATS and Joan SISOM, before 1767.2 (Thomas COATS Sr. was born about 1682 in , , ENG 1 4 and died in 1769-1772 of Philadelphia, , PA.) |
