Elizabeth COATES 1
She married George Palmer of Nonesuch, County of Surrey, who in 1681 purchased 5000 acres from William Penn. In 1683 Palmer sailed to America with his wife on the "Isabell Ann Katherren," Thomas Hutson, Master. Unfortunately, he died at sea, his will signed on board ship and dated 9/4/1683. She was bequeathed 1000 acres in his will. Elizabeth married (2nd) Thomas Fitzwater of Philadelphia, a minister of the Religious Society of Friends and father of George Fitzwater, later a business partner of Thomas and a trustee in his will. At one point Thomas Coates had to go to England to arranged for the ransom of George Palmer from Algerian pirates, as noted in the minutes of Darby Meeting! Elizabeth married George PALMER before 1683. (George PALMER was born of Nonesuch, Surry, ENG and died in 1683 at Sea.) Elizabeth next married Thomas FITZWATER. (Thomas FITZWATER was born of Philadelphia, , PA 2.) |
