Rev. Joseph Powell was of the Baptist faith. Some info about him included in an obituary of his daughter, Elenor, stated that he "being the only clergyman in thoses parts then (Bedford Co, PA),; solemnized 845 marriages up to 1804, the time of his death." Eleanor was his 2nd child out of 8 children.

Rev. married Rachel ROSE before 1765.
