He fought in the Revolutionary War. He also is the Samuel Ferguson who purchased 32 acres on a ridge between 12 Pole and Rich Creek in Cabell Co., VA on 10 July 1834. This land would have been very near if not adjoining what had been his father's land on 12 Pole in Cabell Co., VA also. Cabell Co. is now Wayne Co., WV. (CL-522) 5
