  General Notes:

I think it rather likely that this is the John Coates who married Anna Gray, had daughter Rebecca in 1759 in Stonington, CT. If so, Rebecca married Stephen Kinney in PA in 1787. (E) I believe it likely for time, place and the fact that John's brother also married a Gray. He is probably the John Coats whose death was listed in the Windham Herald that was published on June 14, 1811, page 63. His age, however, was listed at 39 or 37, but I think this could be a transcription error and that the 3 was orginally an 8. ³
