 General Notes:
There is a Coates line from NY with a Simeon in it that has passed down the tradition that their surname was KOTZ from Germany. They also are said to have Cherokee blood in their lineage. So far, this is the only NY Coate line I know of that has Simeon's in it and could be apply to this family starting with this Simeon.
There is also a possibility that any German KOTZ were originally Scotch Irish Coates who moved to Germany for work during hard times. This was one of the patterns in history.
