bullet  General Notes:

His name is pronunced and spelled John in the U.S. He was the youngest of his siblings. He was from Pozdisovce in Zemplin (Zupa) Province, Slovakia. He married his wife in Europe. According to grandson, Andrew, he went to live with his brother in Anamagadia or Magadia, Austria soon after he married his wife to find work. His first son, John, was born there in Austria around 1886-7. When son John was six, his family returned to Michalovce which is a main city just about 3 miles from Pozdisovce, his home town. He alone emigrated to America several years later and returned to Slovakia at least once for a visit. His son Jon was the first to follow him to the United States when he was 16 (between 1905 and 1907). They followed him one by one until they were all here by 1911. They settled in the coal mining region of PA around Indiana Co., Pennsylvania Places they lived included Wimber, Skullevel, Climer, and Indiana, Pennsylvania John died in PA at an unknown time in a coal mining accident. (D-153, 161, 172)

Jan is likely the Jan Dudik who emmigrated on Feb. 16, 1897 via Antwerp, Belgium arriving on that date in Philadelphia, PA. His destination was his brother in law, Jan Miklovich, in Pottsville, PA. He could read and write. He had $18.00 in his possession and he paid for his own passage. He was from Hungary, specifically residing in O. Kemence before his journey began. He was age 35 and married.

It is this Jan that could have a sibling the right age to be our Joseph Dudik who came somewhere from Czechoslovakia (then known as Hungary) and was born about 1867. Jan's descendants in Ohio stated they had relatives in Columbus, Ohio. 2
