bullet  General Notes:

It is purely theory on my part, that a Galbreath was somehow related to William Coate of Newberry in 1767 because he sells some of William's original land on Mar 6, 1807 in SC (via his attorney, Nathaniel Galbreath) and his brother, John Galbreath sells some of William's original 1767 land in 1800. He probably came with his brother whose name was torn out of the Quaker records from Bradford MM, Chester Co., PA on Mar. 14, 1777. They were received at the Bush River MM in SC on Aug 30, 1777. (C-95, 1856)

James and his wife and sons Asher and David were received on certificate from Bush River MM, dated 3/29, 1800 at Deep River MM, NC on May 5, 1800. James, wife Susannah and children, Asher, David and Ann were received on certificate from Deep River MM, NC to Concord MM in Ohio on May 21, 1803. They had left NC on 4/4/1803. (C-95) On Aug 8, 1804 Susannah & children Ashur, David Ann and Sarah were received from Short Creek MM dated May 19, 1804. They had moved to the Middleton MM, Columbiana Co., Ohio Even though James is not listed in the 1804 record, I haven't found where James was disowned in that time period. We don't think he's deceased as the James Galbreath who sold some of William Coate's original 1767 land in Newberry, SC in 1807 is listed as of Columbiana Co., OH in that year.

If this James is the one married to Susannah, then he likely had a long list of children in his day and age. He appears to have had a daughter, Mary who married Richard Taylor within a year of his arrival -- but also was still having children after 1800.... The Quaker records state that she was the daughter of James Galbreath of the 96th District. However, if that is this James, it would mean he is having children over a 40 year period which sounds unlikely. This family should therefore be taken with a grain of salt till it all can be verified.
