Amy comes from an exemplary family in our country's early history. Her grandfather, John Hornor, was a native of Tadcaster, Yorkshire, England and was a man of education and standing. He arrived in 1683. He and his son John actively helped start Princeton University with donations of large sums of money and sale of land to keep it afloat in it's early years. Another ancestor, Isaac Hornor, was the first person to free his slaves in the province of New Jersey. 1 Amy married Samuel COATES, son of Samuel COATES and Mary LANGDALE, on Oct 17, 1791 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA.1 (Samuel COATES was born on Aug 24, 1748 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA, USA 3 and died on Jun 5, 1830 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA, USA.) |
