She is sometimes listed with the surname of Hill, but deed and will evidence has led researcher Fran Osborn to believe she was Mary Underwood instead. (C-2394)
Not supporting this theory which fits well with most first hand records is Capt. John Upton's will in which he names the children of his latest wife, Margaret (who was married to William Underwood) who were living near them in Virginia but he does not name Mary in his will dated 1752. (C-2403)
