John was deeded 295 acres of land by his father Robert in 1755 and 265 more in 1759. (CL-562) He had a son James and 3 daughters.

James Anderson's will--To wife, Jean; to son, John, 5 shillings; to son, George, 5 shillings; to son, James, 5 shillings; to daughter, Agnis, 5 shillings; to daughter, Jane, 5 shillings; to son, Samuel, whole estate; to son Samuel's son, James, 200 acres, infant. Executors. George Moffett and John Young. Teste: John Blair, Isaac Carson. Peter Challe. Proved, 15th June, 1779, by Blair and Carson. Executors refused, administration granted Samuel.

Page 166.--14th July, 1776. James Gamble's will--To wife, Agness, tract cor. Alex. Blair; cor. the land that was Alex. Craig, Sr.'s; the spring house that belonged to Alex. Craig, Jr.; cor. John Young; cor. James Anderson; to son, Robert, tract cor. Alex. Blair, cor. Alex Craig, Sr.; to son, John, land on both sides Middle River; to daughters, Sarah, Agness, Elizabeth, Esther. Executors, John Poage and beloved brother Thomas Bell and son Robert Gamble. Teste: James Bell, William Frame, William Young. Proved, 15th May, 1781, by the witnesses, and Robert Gamble qualifies. 3
