Jacob Doughty was one of the first, if not the first Quaker to settle in Quakertown, NJ. He owned land there previous to 1727. John Stevenson's deed record of that year adjoined land owned by Jacob Doughty. Samuel Large purchased some of Jacob Doughty's original 1,212 acres around 1729. Jacob married Amy WHITEHEAD before 1702. (Amy WHITEHEAD was born on 8/7/1679 and died before 8/1/1742 in , Hunterdon, NJ, USA.) |
