There is a John Evans who left widow, Mary Evans, and was buried in Tyn Rhos, Perry Twp., Gallia Co., Ohio. He was in the Civil War, enlisting in Mar. 25, 1864 and was discharged on Mar. 25, 1865. (CL-168) He is probably the John who achieved the rank of Private in Co. C, 96th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry. His widow, Mary, is listed in the 1890 military service census. He or she were from Thurman, Raccoon Twp, Gallia Co., Ohio. His was wounded twice. His leg was shot off according to this census before being discharged. John married. |
