  General Notes:

Mary and daughters, Rebeca and Anne are named in a deed dated 1801 after her husband died. They received 30 acres of land that had been sold to her husband in 1798. For some reason, daughter Mary was not named in this deed. I suspect it's because she was an infant in the family and we have the girls ages estimated incorrectly.

Mary could easily be a Quaker from the way she starts her will, " I, Mary Coate, of South Carolina." Her husband had preceded her in death. Her daughters appeared grown and she also named one grand-daughter, Rebecca Lake. (C-266) ³

Mary married "Georgia" John COATE, son of James COATS and Mary UNKNOWN, before 1783. ("Georgia" John COATE was born about 1760 of Columbia, GA and died before 7/6/1801 in , Newberry, SC, USA ³.)
