Sir James Coats emigrated to America in 1854. He is the first of this famous family to emigrate to America. James and Sarah Ann's children were mostly married in the United States, but we are not certain that they stayed in the U.S. (C-1792) He is the Sir James Coats, that died in 1912. He held the title, first Baronet of Auchendrane, Maybole, and Ayrshire. Newpaper articles from the area mention that four Coats males all had estates probated in the same year, 1912, with this James and James Jr. being amongst them. This James's estate was worth 170,000 lbs at the time. (C-1793)
