SHOEMAKER, Benjamin 3
Benjamin was mayor of Philadelphia three sessions in 1743, 1753 and 1761 and obviously a prominent citizen. He wrote his will on Oct 1, 1765 and it was probated on Jul 6, 1767. Since his wife's name is Elizabeth in his will, it appears that he married after his first wife died. (Will book O: p. 134) (C-2157) Benjamin married Sarah COATES, daughter of Thomas COATES and Beulah JACQUES, on Mar 29, 1724 in Philadelphia M.M., Philadelphia, PA.1 (Sarah COATES was born 14d 7m 1705 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA, USA,4 died on Apr 8, 1738 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA, USA and was buried on Apr 10, 1738 in Philadelphia M.M., Philadelphia, PA.)
