WRIGHT, Margaret 2 3 4 5 6 7
Margaret was listed as Margaret Hammer, daughter of John and Rachel Wright when she married her 2nd husband, Joseph Hollingsworth in 1768. I have seen a couple 2nd hand sources that believed she married an Abraham Hollingsworth between these two men, but obviously this has to be incorrect as she was listed by her widowed surname of Hammer in her marriage to Joseph Hollingsworth. Both of her parents were witnesses to their Quaker marriage in the Bush River Quaker records. In fact, she had a long list of family members in the right hand column of the record listed in this order, John Wright (father), Rachel Wright (mother), William Wright (brother), Isaac Cook (brother-in-law), John Coats (brother-in-Law, Big John married to Rachel Wright, her sister), John Wright , Leah Wright (sister-in-law married to her brother, William Wright), Charity Cook (sister), Mary Ball (???), Jos. Wright (brother), Mary Coats (??? The Wife to Marmaduke was not a known kin to Margaret Wright though some DNA evidence is now stating that Marmaduke and Big John's descendants were related), Sarah Brooks (sister), and Charity Wright (sister-in-law). 1 Margaret married John HAMMER on Nov 3, 1758 in Bush Creek, Newberry, SC. (John HAMMER died before 1768.)
CD-100 and 102 disagree on Margaret's spouse. The first says it's Hammer, the second says it's Joseph Hollingsworth. The marriage date also differs by a month in these two sources. (C-588) Margaret next married Joseph HOLLINGSWORTH, son of George HOLLINGSWORTH and Hannah McCOY, on Jun 4, 1768 in Bush River M.M., SC, USA.1 (Joseph HOLLINGSWORTH was born in 1735 in Winchester, Frederick, VA, USA and died in 1799 9.) |
