His name is found spelled multiple ways in the records: Lyndsie, Lindsey... He attended the College of Philadelphia in 1760 where he trained to be a lawyer. He was admitted to the Philadedelphia and Chester Co. Bars in Nov of 1764. He was listed as an Officer of Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania on 4/27/1772. He received a patent for 318 acres of land on Feb. 7, 1774 which he had gotten the warrent for the previous year on June 8, 1773 in North Umberland, Pennsylvania The tract of land was called "Yorkshire". He placed an ad in the PA Gazette dated Nov. 6, 1776 in which he was selling a Coffee House on the upperside of PooleBridge with frontage on Front St. and the Delaware River in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania In 1782, he and his wife Ruth were named in his wife's brother's (Isaac Hughes) will. He was also a signer of various Pennsylvania Currency and a Senator from Montgomery Co. Pennsylvania He was obviously a successful and relied upon citizen. (C-1741, 1764) ^{6 7}
