  General Notes:

I've estimated his birth date from his death date and the fact that he had one living son at the time of his death as before 1720. If the following marriage record is his, then he was likely born before 1717.

A marriage that might apply to this Daniel takes place on Feb 18, 1735 to Mary Lindsey in Christ Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (C-1680) They are likely the Daniel and Mary who had a son Thomas on Sep 11, 1736 in Philadelphia. (C-1684)

Daniel's will dated Aug. 20, 1741. It is transcribed here by Charlotte Coats Sierks: "Daniel Coates - PA Wills - Book F, p. 238, city of Philadelphia, he's a shipwright, sister Martha Coates, son Isaac Coates an infant, brother John Coates, land on Gilbert's Alley, sister Mary, brother Thomas, signed Aug 1741, Witnesses Lowry Drinkor, William Rush, probated Aug 1741." It is theory on my part that he belongs with this family because the 4 siblings he names are names in this family in the correct time and place.

The land that Daniel gave to his brother John in the above will, John later bequeathed to one of his sons in his own will written in 1771. ⁴
