He was only 9 months old when his father died. He was raised by his uncle through marriage, John Reynall, a highly successful business man of the region and came to have great respect for him. Samuel married Lydia SAUNDERS, daughter of Joseph SAUNDERS and Unknown, on Nov 12, 1775. (Lydia SAUNDERS was born about 1750 1 and died before Jan 21, 1790 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA, USA.)
