John Reynall was the last president of the "Friendly Association" whose goal was to preserve the peace with the Indians. He was known for his interest in the native's welfare. John had five children, all of whom died before adulthood. (C-2157)

He was married and had children. When all of his children died, he took his wife's nephew, Samuel Coates under his wings. Samuel was only 9 months old when his father died. He taught him about his successful business in the Shipping and Commmission Merchant Trade and beqeathed him his home at the northwest corner of Front and Walnut Streets. (E) Samuel went on to be a highly respected citizen and President of the Pennsylvania Hospital thanks to the tutorship of his uncle.

John married Mary COATES, daughter of Thomas COATES and Beulah JACQUES, on 2/15/1736. (Mary COATES was born 06d 4mo 1707 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA,2 died on 5/25/1773 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA 3 and was buried in Friends Burial Ground, Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA.)
