William? JAY 1
A William Jay of unknown age witnessed a will in 1685 in Barbados. He also was listed as a planter in 1688 adjoining Henry Howard's property in Barbados. He could be a son or brother of John Jay, the Quaker planter from Barbados. He might possibly be the William Gay who purchased 134 acres in 1713 in Dorchester Co., MD, as there are no Jay's left in Barbados after the year 1700. (C-816, 2321) |
