John Gay is listed as the husband of Elizabeth Gay in a 1684 Barbados will. He is probably a son of John Jay who was a planter in Barbados. He is possibly the John Gay who purchased 100 acres called "Gay's Enlargement" on Oct 10, 1707 in Baltimore Co., MD. In Salem Co., NJ, he is possibly the John Jay who witnesses two wills in 1711. No John Jay or any other Jay is in the Barbados records after the year 1700. (C-2321)
