AUSTIN, Jane 2 3
Jane's name is also spelled Oistone. In 1701, Jane inherited 50 acres of "Austin". Her sister, Mary, received an equal share. In 1715, Mary and her husband, John Worleysmith, sold it to Denis Lary. Denis proceeded to sell it in 1717 to William Tharp, husband of Jane. This 100 acre section that was probably Jane's childhood home went to sons John and William who sold it to John Plummer when they moved to Kent Co., DE in 1750. Jane married William THARP, son of Thomas THARP and Elizabeth UNKNOWN, on Jan 8, 1708/09 in St. Peter's Parish, Easton, Talbot, MD.1 (William THARP was born about 1682 in Langford Bay, Kent, MD 4 and died in 1748 in , Talbot, MD.)
This is our William's marriage record as he was the only William of marriageable age known in that area. Also, in his will he lists wife, Jane, and his witness is Jane Austin's nephew, Simon Keld. |
