  General Notes:

William purchased four tracts of land in 1794 and 1795 totaling 290 acres in Iredell Co., North Carolina. In William's will in Will Book I, p. 220, Iredell Co., NC dated Apr. 25 1807, he names wife Mary, sons: William, Joseph, Zedic, Isaac; and daughters: Esther, Armelia Cahoon, Unica, Kezziah, Ann; and grandson: Jesse Tharpe in care of son Isaac. His witnesses are Zedic Tharp, Jurat, and Samuel Wales. Amelia Calhoon and other Cahoon (Calhoon) families can also be found in Gallia Co., OH where some of William's children migrated too. Other Calhoons appear to have married Tharps in Gallia. (CL-452)

William married Barbara JORDAN about 1754. (Barbara JORDAN was born about 1730 and died before 1763.)

William next married Mary HARRIS about 1764 in Murderkill Hundred, Kent, DE.¹ (Mary HARRIS was born about 1740 and died about 1816 in , Iredell, NC, USA.)

  Marriage Notes:

Bob Tharp's manuscript gives a marriage date of 1766, though this would be after his son Joseph was born in Mar. 1765. (CL-317)
