John supposedly came to New Jersey during the period of time when Baptists were immigrating there from Swansea, Massachusetts and vicinity. His cattle mark was registered in June 1708 in Salem, NJ. The New Jersey archives list multiple wills and inventories in which he was named in 1711. (C-172) The only proof that has been located that John and Ann Orchard are the parents of William Jay, b. about 1720 in Chester Co. PA is the application for Mary Lou Hargess Highfill for the National Society of Colonial Dames. They supposedly had sons WiIliam, Joseph, and Jonathan. (C-869) John married Ann ORCHARD in 1695 in , Harford, MD, USA. (Ann ORCHARD was born in 1674 in , Harford, MD, USA 7 and died in 1742 7.)
