General Notes:
Rowland is a descendant of the Royal House of Tudor, Geoffrey Plantagenet, King's Edward I, John and Henry I. (C-437, p.568) He was of an ancient family long seated at Mathavarn in the parish of Llanwrin and lordship of Cyfeiliog (C-437, p. 577) Rowlandus ap Hugh, armiger appeared on the roll of the magistrates for the first time on 13 Eliz., 1571. In 1572 he was elected to serve in parliament for the borough of Montgomery. He also was commissioner of Taxes for the county, 18 Eliz., 1576. He nearly died, in fact they thought he was dead when they elected Richard Herbert to stand in his place for the borough Montgomery. He regained enough strength to be brought back into the same position and serve as M.P. again in 1588-9. (C-437, p. 580)
Rowland married Eleanor PURCELL, daughter of Nicholas PURCELL and Anne BEESTON.
