Also known as John Plantagenet, John reigned from May 27, 1199 till his death on Oct. 18-19, 1216. (C-437, p. 590) He was the youngest son of Henry II and Eleanor. His birth date is also listed as 1167 in CD-102, Warren's book "King John"., and the "Kings & Queens of England & Scotland." He was an unpopular King largely due to the fact that he was not the great fighter kings were expected to be at the time. He is listed as hedonistic, unstable and unforgiving. At the same time he was highly intelligent, efficient, sophisticated, well educated in law and government and he loved to read often carrying books with him on his travels. John married. John next married Isabella ANGOULEME, daughter of Aymer Taillefer EARL OF ANGOULEME and Alice UNKNOWN, on 8/24/1200 in Bordeaux, Grnd, , FRA. (Isabella ANGOULEME was born in 1188 in Angouleme, Chrnt, , FRA and died on 5/31/1246 in Fonteurault, Maine-Et-Loire, FRA.) John next married Unknown DE WARENNE, daughter of Hameline PLANTAGENET and Isabel DE WARENNE. John next married Clementina, daughter of Henry PINEL and Unknown. John next married Isabelle D.Of EARL OF GLOUCESTER in 1189. (Isabelle D.Of EARL OF GLOUCESTER died in 1217.) |
