COATE, Amos ¹

  General Notes:

There is an Amos Coates, age 21-45, living in New London Co., CT in 1800. He is the only Amos found in any of the census records. It is definitely not known if he is the son of William and Rachel and Budd Coate though. (C-739, 2138) The following Amos Coates is likley younger than this Amos, but is included here because descendants of this family have not yet figured out who his parents are: "Amos Coats, He married Nancy Jennings April 01, 1808 in Madison Co., Kentucky, daughter of John Jennings and Unknown Wife. She was born Abt. 1790."

Consent given April1, 1808 by John Jennings, father of the bride. Bondsman was Benjamin Heathman.

Child of Amos Coats and Nancy Jennings is:

This younger Amos is probably the Amos Coats who is mentioned in the estate records of Elijah Warner in Fayette Co., KY in 1833. ²
