Edward left home from Mar. 1, 1850 till Apr. 1853 when he was not fully grown, to hunt for gold during the Califonia Gold Rush. He traveled there via Central America. When returning to Sangamon Co., IL, he spent a couple years buying and shipping stock. He worked as a merchant for a year in Sandova, Marion Co., IL and then again returned, this time to farming. Farming became his life-long pursuit. He located in Woodside Twp. in 1870 with 80 acres of land. Edward married Delight S. MARTIN on Sep 5, 1854. (Delight S. MARTIN was born on Sep 12, 1830 in , , OH, USA,4 died on Aug 12, 1902 and was buried in Springfield, Sangamon, IL, USA.) |
