Rebeca UNKNOWN
I am conjecturing that Rebeca is William's unknown wife whom he married about 1790. I state this because she was definitely listed as his wife in an 1810 deed of sale of the heirs of Little John Coate when she gave away her dower rights. Up until now, what I've seen is William's 2nd wife, Elizabeth Webb as being his wife by 1809, but this is refuted by the deed of record. However, she also must have died close to the date she gave away her dower rights as her signature is not included with the other wives in the grouping of heirs of John Coate dated Nov. 20, 1810. Rebeca married William COATE, son of "Little" John COATE and Susannah ENNIS, about 1790 in Edgefield, Newberry, SC, USA.1 (William COATE was born about 1786 in , Newberry, SC, USA 2 and died on 6/7/1871 in , Clarke, AL.) |
