There is also a William Benton who married a Caty G. Griffith on Apr. 17, 1828 in Montgomery Co., Maryland that could be a first marriage for this William.

There is a William D. Benton married to a Ruth in the 1850 Frederick Co., MD census. He was age 58, she 56 and their children living at home still were: Phoebe, Thomas, Margaret, Joseph and Wornetter?(a female). They were all born in Maryland.

William is possibly the William Benton who attended Mt. Lebanon Sunday School, a Methodist Congregation, in Montgomery Co., Maryland in their ledger for 1856-1859. (CL-702) 2
