This Joseph is likely the owner of at least some of the lands below in Montgomery Co., MD in 1783. "Joseph Benton. Linganore and Sugar Loaf Hundred, p. 1. MSA S 1161-8-1 1/4/5/51, Joseph Benton. None Left, pt, 50 acres. Linganore and Sugar Loaf Hundred, p. 19. MSA S 1161-8-1 1/4/5/51, Joseph Benton, Jr. Plummers Hunting Hill, 50 acres. Linganore and Sugar Loaf Hundred, p. 20. They had no daughters living with them at the time, but they did own 14 slaves. They lived in Montgomery Co., Maryland. A Samuel B. Magruder made his will on Apr. 15, 1818 in Montgomery Co., Maryland.
