| Reverend Roger COTES
(1682-1716) |
Reverend Roger COTES
He was a brilliant student who became a professor at Oxford University. He was selected by Isaac Newton to edit his second edition of "Principia Mathematica" in 1713 as well as write the introduction. Sadly, Roger Cotes unexpectedly died of a terrible fever in 1716 at age 34. According to the "Dictionary of National Biography", Newton is quoted of saying, "Had Cotes lived, we might have known something!". 1 |
