Humphrey COTES Lord Of The Manor Of Cotes 1
Born: Bef 1420
Marriage (1): Joannne
Died: Aft 1441, Of Manor Of Cotes In Staffordshire And Woodcote, Salop, ENG
He was Lord of the Manor of Cotes in Staffordshire and Woodcote in Salop (Schropshire) England. Note that these 2 Manors were about 20 miles apart and in differing counties. Woodcote was south and slightly west of Cotes, Stafford, England. He is probably the Humphrey Cotes, Armiger, who was in English records involving land disputes in Alreston and Flosbroke in 1438 and 1441. The name of Alreston appears now about 10 miles southwest of Woodcote by the way the crow flies. There is no longer any Flosbroke. "Armiger" means that he was Humphrey Cotes, one who had title bestowed upon him or whom had the honor of a coat of arms. 2
Humphrey married Joannne [MRIN: 4755].
