Joseph’s father was William Coat(e)s, who married Elizabeth
Rutherford (b. 1802 Simonburn, Northumberland d. 1858) in 1825 in Haydon Bridge 
(source HB Parish Register), and died 1828 at Birdoswald (source HB Parish Register). 
I am anxious to trace descendants of William Coat(e)s (b.1776
Haydon Bridge)in the UK and Australia to confirm by DNA the link to descendants
of his first marriage to Jane Pearson (source “The Coat(e)s of Haydon Bridge,
A Northumberland family from 1664” written by A.C.Kirby and Clavering William
Coates).
