Thomas's marriage license to Mary states his parents as James Coats and Joannah Gay and it also states Thomas's birth place as Hamilton County, Tennessee. Sarah A. and Paulina  V. married  Ford brothers Thomas and Mary were listed in Dade County, Georgia in 1900.

I was looking at the names of the children of William  Coates and Sarah Worrell Coates from Borough of Frankford, Phila. Paulina was my GGrandmother's name, and her sister's name was Sarah. Their father was named Thomas Coates/Coats. Thomas's father's name was James.

The Thomas B. Coates I'm related to is my Ggrandfather b 1839 in Hamilton Co. TN. His parents were James Coates and Joannah Gay. Looks like he may have had two middle names, James Thomas Benjamin Coates. He went by Thomas. He died around 1902. He was in the Cival War, in company E 2nd IL calvary, date of muster March 26, 1864, rank was recruit. He was married twice. His first wife was Sarah and second was Mary Susan Taylor my Ggrandmother. They had a son Charles Franklin Coates my Grandfather. Charles married Ola Mae Kitchens(Kitchings) who had my father Kenneth Franklin Coates
